About Niranjan

I, Niranjan Weerakoon is an inventor, who starts the life story of inventions from childhood. During my school time, I’ve developed a motorized push bicycle by converting a normal bicycle into a motorcycle, which can paddle as well as to operate with a motor in 1988. Also, I’ve developed an automated windowing system as a solution for large scale factories. After I’ve obtained the BSc.

In Science in 1993 from University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. During my university life, I’ve created a tea making machine & temperature transmitter and got a scholarship from Japanese government to enroll with a cultural program. Then I’ve developed a Coconut Plucking Machine to climb up the tree, to select and pluck the mature coconuts. For that I’ve gained,

  1. Won the Gold Medal from ‘27th SALON INTERNATIONAL DES INVENTIONS GENEVA – 1999’ for the Coconut Plucking Machine.
  2. Presidential award for Coconut Plucking machine in 1998
  3. CYP Asia Award for Excellence in Youthwork (Malaysia) in 1998.
  4. Also got the patent for the Coconut Plucking Machine in 1998

In 2000, created a liquid fuel producing machine from polythene waste & plastic. For that I’ve obtained the presidential award in 2000. Also participated for the international conference of ‘Plastic Waste Management’ which was held in India. I got the patent for the fuel producing machine too. In 2001 I’ve created a Foldable wheel barrow and marketed it and got the patent for the product under the industrial design. Then created an electricity generating plant from sea waves in 2006 and have presented it in the ‘INPEX Inventors Competition’ which was held in Petersburg, USA and won the bronze award for the invention.

After doing lots of researches & inventions, I have created a highly efficient bio mass stove in 2009 and marketing it up to now. Also got the patent for the product in 2008. Then I’ve invented and developed a Coconut Scraper Machine and it has been widely spread. In 2021, have developed an industrial stove for industrial purposes and now it has achieved a considerable potion of the Sri Lankan marketplace.

Evolution of Motorised Bicycle - (1989-2004)

Motorized Bicycle was invented in 1989 by Niranjan Weerakoon and marketed in 2004.

02.

Automated Beverage Producing Machine - 1993

Presenting the beverage producing machine to the former professor Mr. W.S Fernando, the dean of faculty of science in University of Sri Jayewardenepura in 1993.

03.

Temperature Transmitter & Receiver - 1994

Presenting the temperature transmitter & recorder in 1994 to the former professor Mr. W.S Fernando, the dean of faculty of science in University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

04.

Welcome Ceremony of Inventors, Sri Lanka - 1994

Taken at the welcome ceremony of the inventors which was held in 1999 Sri Lanka, for winning the gold medal for the Coconut Plucking Machine at 27th International Awards Ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland.

05.

Coconut Harvesting Machine - 1998

Niranjan has founded the Coconut Harvesting Machine in 1998 to simplify the coconut harvesting and to protect people from falling down from trees.

02.

This certificate was awarded for completing course in practical electronics conducted by The Arthur C Clarke Centre for Modern Technologies.

CYP ASIA AWARD (Commonwealth Youth Programme) - 1998 - 99

This certificate was awarded for my contribution in Youth work and development for the year 1998-99.

This certificate was awarded for winning first place in new invention category, All-island competition organized by National Youth Services Council.

Presidential Awards for Inventions - 1998

This certificate was awarded for winning third place invention, Coconut Harvesting Machine at the Presidential Awards Ceremony 1998.

Presidential Awards for Inventions - 2000

This certificate was awarded for invention, plant for producing fuel from polythene waste at the Presidential Awards Ceremony 2000.

This letter was to express their Honour Appreciation and Acknowledgement of my presentation at their sessions and Skills in inventions.
